Dear Hope Hill Women,
We're launching off of August's Women of Faith Luncheon where the power of our Lord Jesus Christ was revealed, felt and experienced by all as we brought our long-standing sins and hurts to Jesus, experiencing His divine healing that only He can offer. For those that were not able to attend, you can listen to the teaching on YouTube (coming soon).
At the end of September, we'll gather again as Women of God, studying the life of the woman caught in adultery in John 8:1-11. While this woman only speaks three words in this entire passage, everything going on around her is looking very horrible: her secret sin has been discovered, and is now on display before all. Her life hangs in the balance as the religious community judges and condemns her, using her to test Jesus.
In an amazing display of love and forgiveness, the woman caught in adultery experienced the gift of salvation that she didn't deserve. Jesus simultaneously convicts the seemingly righteous of their sins, and offers forgiveness to the guilty woman. After this encounter everyone swapped places: the woman now forgiven, holy and righteous because of Jesus, and the seemingly righteous, now condemned of their sin. Jesus' last words to her serve as a life-long commission to us: "Go, and sin no more" specifically from sins God has forgiven us from.
What secret sin are you hiding? What is the sin that you are being condemned for right now in this current season? How similar are you to the woman caught in adultery? At the next Women of Holiness Gathering, we will examine this passage in detail, then wait on the Lord asking Him to expose our sin issues. Then, we'll together come to Jesus for forgiveness, and lastly, we'll invite the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with His passion for holiness, purity, and righteous living. We know that we cannot live this way without the empowering of the Holy Spirit.
Expect your mind to be challenged with the Word of God, your heart broken with the gravity of your sin, and your soul experiencing the unending love and forgiveness of Christ. This will be a very special evening where the women of Hope Hill come together as sisters in Christ in pursuit of deeper intimacy with Jesus, and growing in relationship with other each other.
There will be a potluck dinner when we first arrive, so please RSVP and let us know what you plan to bring.
Your Sister in Christ,
Pastor Beau's Wife
