Connect Group: 1, 2 & 3 John

Comfortable Christianity often means a weak Christianity. In this video study on John’s three letters, Dr. Tony Evans challenges Christians who have grown comfortable and complacent in their faith. Fellowship with God is the essence of our faith, and Tony walks through 1, 2 & 3 John to paint a picture of love, obedience, and truth. In a world that hates Jesus, we are called to love Him and His people with a fierce love.

Sermon & Bible Study Prep Training Series

Have you ever wondered if God might have you lead a Bible study or preach a Bible-based sermon someday? Well, Hope Hill Church is excited to begin training you to do so. We’re offering a practical workshop series that will unlock strategies for how to prepare and present effective lectures that will help others.

Public speaking can be terrifying for many of us — even if it is in a small group setting. But the reality is that you can help many people if you overcome this fear and gain the tools to effectively communicate truth. Just do it! We believe its time to start preparing for your future calling — whatever that calling may be — and we’re happy to help.

In the end, you will be equipped to prepare a sermon and lead a Bible study. In the later classes we will allow attendees the opportunity to prepare and give a short Bible teaching or sermon. Furthermore, in order to apply what we’ve learned, we will organize a trip to a local nursing home or teen detention center to actually use the skills we’ve developed to help others. This is an exciting opportunity for the people of Hope Hill Church to take the next step in their calling from God to reach out to the world.

Men's Movie Night: Kingdom Men Rising

Join the guys from Hope Hill Church on Monday, April 29th at Regal Union Square for a viewing of Kingdom Men Rising: No More Excuses by Dr. Tony Evans. Kingdom Men Rising is a documentary film exploring what it means to be a real man in the midst of cultural trends in which there is confusion about masculinity. The film wrestles honestly with the unique questions and circumstances men face today. Kingdom Men Rising takes a journey that challenges men to rise above what we have become to lives of no more sitting on the sidelines, no more passivity, and no more excuses.

This film draws from the experiences of author, pastor and speaker Dr. Tony Evans to provide clarity on this topic. Matters of significance, priorities, race and passivity are addressed from a biblical perspective. Featuring Grammy-award winning entertainer Kirk Franklin, Heisman trophy winner Tim Brown, former Dallas Cowboy quarterback Jon Kitna, Super Bowl winning coach Tony Dungy, NFL vice president Troy Vincent, author Priscilla Shirer, and others, Kingdom Men Rising provides an honest portrayal of today’s man that is countered by God’s original design.

Women's Gathering: Learning from Miriam

Join the women of Hope Hill for our monthly Women’s Gathering on April 26th at Mia’s apartment in Battery Park. In the past we’ve studied exemplary women of God who exhort us to follow their example with a higher standard of living, pursuit of holiness, integrity, and faith in the midst of adversity. This month, we’re switching things up and examining Miriam, a woman who made a big mistake: speaking against her brother Moses who was God’s anointed leader of the Jewish people. We’ll dive into the culture and context of Miriam’s fleshy words, her prejudice, and how God disciplined her - all so that we can learn from her mistakes. Our faith will grow stronger in the character of God, knowing that He is the vindicator of His servants.

Women's Gathering: Ruth - The Intricacies of Life & God's Sovereign Hand

The history of Ruth is one of the most widely read and studied parts of the Old Testament, especially by women who are seeking guidance and comfort in the quest for the right husband. While there are principles about choosing the right spouse that God wanted us to take away from Ruth's personal journey, we want to unravel a wealth of details and life principles that go beyond the love story and that really point us to the heart and ways of God.

Join us as we look at Ruth's story from a fresh perspective, delving deeper into the life and faith of a woman that had an essential contribution to building the family line of King David and Jesus Christ.

If our God is a relational, personal, living and loving God who longs to hear from us in prayer, then doesn't He also respond? Are we listening? Do we know how? Women are invited to bring a snack, dessert or non-alcoholic drink to share. We'll study what Scripture says about how our God spoke to early Christians and how He speaks to us today. Mark your calendars and, in the meantime, may this song convince and convict you to be intentional about listening to and for the voice of your Good Shepard.

Women of Faith: Inhabiting Your Own Story

As women living in our contemporary world, we are faced with the pressure to emulate patterns of success, independence and assertiveness, so that we would fit the mold of "the self-made woman". What if, in our complicated, unpredictable and often mundane individual stories there are details, unwrapped gifts and specific callings that God intends to use in His Master Plan, provided that we take hold of our own lives and do not forfeit our individual purposes?

We are going to take a look at the amazing story of Abigail in 1 Samuel 25:2-41 and see how a woman that is described as “beautiful and intelligent” chooses to honor God by covering her reckless husband’s mistake and by being present and resourceful, at a crucial moment.
